This month’s move of the moment is called the Giddy-Yap. It is a classic juggling trick that involves the use of the thigh to manipulate the bounce of the soccer ball while juggling.

Of course, to successfully execute the giddy-yap, players must be confident and consistent with their juggle. When you are able to control your juggle at waist height, you are ready to perform the move.

To perform the giddy-yap, begin by juggling the ball. When you feel relaxed and in a controlled juggling rhythm, play the ball about waist height. As the ball drops, you will use your thigh to simultaneously cushion and pop the ball—giving a weird and funky feeling effect.

To be successful with the giddy-yap, you will need to move your thigh in a downward motion instead of the usual upward motion used with regular juggling. You must also kick out the rest of the leg, parallel to the ground, to generate the popping motion that is necessary to return the ball back up.

This move will create a staled and double-bounce effect that is smooth and silky to the eye.

Remember two things: the place you should be making contact with the ball is right in-between your knee and your thigh and try to delay your action right before the ball reaches you—this tricky action only takes a split second.

Remember juggling is an indicator of your ball control skills and demonstrates the quality of your touch—the giddy-yap is a simple and fun way to showcase your juggling skills.
